Cutting costs, working smarter

Author: Oliver Phillips, Thursday, December 4, 2008

eantics is a very low overhead business - we design websites so we’re bound to have the edge over businesses that need to hold physical supplies of stock and product.  But even in our back office, we run very lean.  This is great as it keeps our prices down, but when cash is harder to [...]

Twitter experiment ended

Author: Oliver Phillips, Monday, November 10, 2008

I posted up about my Twitter experiment a few months back.  Well, I’ve decided to call an end to it; as good as it is from a technological point of view, it’s a fairly redundant communications channel in the circles I move in - at least for me.  It’s just too untargeted a medium.  A shot gun [...]

Create Massive Posters From your Digital Images

Author: Oliver Phillips, Friday, October 24, 2008

It’s not often that I find something that I want to shout about but Block Posters is something everyone should know about.  Every one has an inkjet printer these days (er I don’t now I think of it) and many of us have taken some great digital photos - but somehow A4 picture size just does [...]

No time to Twitter

Author: Oliver Phillips, Friday, October 3, 2008

If you’ve read my previous posts on Twitter you’ll know that I’ve been experimenting with it. I wasn’t certain I quite got it, or needed it - so I decided to trial it.
Today I realised it’s been a while since I last updated Twitter, which got me thinking about the concept again.
There are loads of people with followers on Twitter  [...]

The Push Internet

Author: Oliver Phillips, Tuesday, September 30, 2008

The world wide web is great - it’s so easy to find information. Assisted by search engines, being able to look up and reference information quicky, simply and just when you need it; it’s a massive enabler which, for tech types like myself, pushes productivity up - no need to consult a book, ask a [...]

Twitter Update

Author: Oliver Phillips, Friday, September 19, 2008

So I’ve been using (or not as it seems) Twitter over the last couple of weeks; I’ve been relying on Twitter4Skype to post from Skype to Twitter which, as a service, seems intermittent, though it is really useful - post from your pc, post from your phone/pda without SMS.
But what do I think of Twitter so [...]

Is Twitter4Skype gone?

Author: Oliver Phillips, Monday, September 15, 2008

Twitter.com has a really useful interface via Skype, called Twitter4Skype - just punch in your update via any Skype enabled device and it gets uploaded (ok there are a couple of simple steps to set it up first).  Problem Twitter4Skype hasn’t been available for the last few days - it’s like their offline/invisible.
The point of [...]

To Twitter or not to…hmm

Author: Oliver Phillips, Sunday, September 7, 2008

I’ve been thinking of doing this for a while. I can see the value of Twitter; making sure you keep in touch with friends and family is important, but with everyone leading busy lives it’s not easy,  and Twitter is a very clever application that might fill a gap.  But why’ve I been only thinking about [...]

Skype your Business - Part 2

Author: Oliver Phillips, Sunday, August 31, 2008

In the last article we covered Skype, its features and how you might use them to bring down your businesses’s communication costs, by building a basic Skype telephone system (read it here). But we’re not done there, this article looks out how Skype can provide scaleable call centre solutions!
Skype Call forwarding is the enabler and [...]

Skype your Business - Part 1

Author: Oliver Phillips, Saturday, August 30, 2008

For anyone that has not heard of Skype, the VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) telephony application now owned by ebay, it’s a cheap and often free way to make and receive calls via the Internet. Anywhere you can get on the internet and login to Skype you can be contacted and contact others, using just [...]
